Building a Future One Step at a Time By Carly Morris When I think about my journey, both in business and in life, it's impossible not to center it around my daughter, Abby. She's been the reason behind so many of my decisions, my growth, and honestly, my strength on the days I didn't feel like I had much left to give. Like many parents, I didn't start out with a clear roadmap. I was figuring things out in real time: balancing responsibilities, navigating challenges, and trying to create something stable not just for me, but for her. That's really where my business began. It wasn't just about becoming a virtual assistant; it was about building something flexible, something sustainable, and something that allowed me to still show up fully as a mother. Working behind the scenes in my business, managing emails, calendars, and supporting other entrepreneurs has taught me so much about structure, discipline, and resilience. More than that, it's taught me how important it is to lead with heart. Every client I support, every system I organize, every late night I push through; it all ties back to the bigger picture of creating a life where Abby sees what's possible. Our journey hasn't been perfect. There have been moments of doubt, financial stress, and times where I questioned if I was doing enough. Those are the moments that also shaped me. They forced me to get creative, to stay consistent, and to keep going even when things felt uncertain. Through it all, Abby has been right there, sometimes watching, sometimes not even realizing how much she's inspired me. What I've learned is that empowerment doesn't always look loud or polished. Sometimes it looks like showing up tired but determined. Sometimes it looks like building something from the ground up while juggling everything else life throws your way, and sometimes it looks like choosing not to give up because someone is watching you, learning from you, and believing in you. My business is still growing, just like I am. It's rooted in something real: the desire to create stability, freedom, and a future that feels aligned with who I am as both a mother and an entrepreneur. If there's one thing I hope other parents take from my story, it's this: you don't have to have it all figured out to start. You just have to be willing to keep going. Carly Morris
